ReFresh Milwaukee - Green Team Video

Professor Jody Freeman of Harvard University spoke candidly on the "Ethics (or non-ethics) of Climate Change". Professor Freeman laid out three points regarding the state of modern environmental affairs:

1. Contemporary environmental law and regulation focuses on the protection of public health, economic growth, and extraction and consumption. The legal infrastructure is about use, instrumental value, and benefits for people.

2. Economics is the dominant discourse in environmental law. The goal is cost internalization,  not justice.

3. Climate change presents an opportunity for an ethical conversation.
