E-cycle Update Milwaukee
After experimenting with various project models regarding e-waste collection and drop off services in Bay View we have gathered some useful observations.
1. Consumers are not ready to pay for e-waste collection with the exception of televisions.
2. Direct consumer engagement is the best way to reach a consumer.
3. Consumers want to know about the supply chain.
4. FREE electronics collection produced more recycled material than a nominally priced collection.
5. Affluent areas are more likely to participate than non.
Material drop off was steadily increasing at the Sweet Water Organics facility until its closing in 2013. Bay View Curbside no longer has access to the site and as a result drop off services have been suspended.
