Tips on dryer removal from basement

  1. Before you begin to move, dismantle, or deconstruct your appliances take a yoga breath. After 3 mildly forced breathes grab a flashlight and a tape measure. Measure all the door widths. Remove  screen doors that exceed the width of the dryer. Clear any additional junk in or around your pathway out.
  2. Next, take a look behind your dryer and locate a valve attached to a copper pipe. If the pipe is vertical and the valve handle is turned in the same direction, then grab a crescent wrench and turn the valve stem 90 degrees. The idea is for the copper pipe and the valve stem to end up perpendicular. This arrangement is correct.
  3. Next, grab your dolly and strap the dryer in place. Slowly and carefully pull the strapped dolly, one stair at a time. This should give you a good start.
And remember, if you get stuck, tired, or just want to plain quit, revert to step one.
Good Luck!
