E-cycle Project-Bay View, WI

According to the Consumer Electronics Association the average household contains 24 electronic devices.  With both the growth of technology and demand for the latest electronic gadgets, comes an equally robust need for responsible systems to manage environmentally hazardous electronic waste.  There are such systems in place, but given the growing trend of e-waste, new and more efficient infrastructure is needed.  The saturation of unwanted electronics has given rise to industry opportunity and emerging markets.

In response, many states have adopted manufacturer funded programs to promote interest in the burgeoning market of electronics recycling. Since 2009, the Wisconsin  D.N.R. has been actively registering collectors and recyclers to keep up with the excess of e-waste. As a result, "E-cycle Wisconsin" was created.  A state program that addresses the surplus of "homeless" electronic material.  Its chief objective is to keep toxic material out of landfills.

In addition to the preservation of Wisconsin landfills, "E-cycle Wisconsin" is striving for a more efficient and responsible infrastructure.  With the help of electronics manufacturers and the state's initiatives, individuals have an opportunity to step up in support. Residents can help by recycling  electronic goods with a registered collector in their area.

Milwaukee residents can contact BV Curbside at 414.982.3736 for service. Collections are scheduled Monday-Saturday from 9:00a.m-7:00p.m.
